Buffy and AngelBuffy Summers is 16 when she becomes romantically involved with Angel, who is not only a vampire that was born in the 18th century, making him 200 something years old when they're involved, but he is believed to have been 26 when he became a vampire. When Buffy loses her virginity to Angel, he loses his soul and becomes a hell-raising monster once again. Angel teams up with Spike, another vengeful vampire, in a fight against Buffy and her "Scooby gang." Buffy knows her love for Angel is wrong and she knows her role as the slayer. She accepts the fact that she needs to kill him. |
Alone
Her blonde hair is spread on the pillow as she peacefully wakes. Her light eyes open and she turns to see the other pillow has been abandoned, where is Angel? She looks to the door and suddenly Drusilla appears, “of course he left, you’ll forever be alone.” Buffy’s eyes open and she takes sharp breaths, realizing it was just a dream. Well, it wasn’t just a dream, it was a flashback that was much worse than the real thing because this time it included Drusilla. Every time she has to relive this event, it gets worse and worse.
Buffy pulls herself from the bed and gets ready for school. Her mother has already left for work by the time Buffy gets downstairs to grab her school bag. Buffy approaches the building labeled “Sunnydale High School” as Zander and Willow walk up by her side.
“Zander, you need to let me help you study for this next chemistry test, seriously!” Willow exclaims.
“It’s not that bad, I got a C, not an F.” He states.
“What did you get Buffy?” Willow asks. Buffy mind drifts off thinking about chemistry. What a weird subject. Why do we even need to learn about elements? It doesn’t even make sense. “Buffy?” Willow asks again.
“Oh,” Buffy looks at Willow, “I’m not sure.” She tells her honestly. This was bad, if she didn’t know her grade by now there’s a good chance the teacher will need to talk to her about her “performance” in class. Willow nods and they walk to rest of the way to the library silently. Buffy reaches for the library door as the intercom rings through the school: “Buffy Summers, please report to the principals office, thank you.” The receptionist’s voice rings over the three of them as Buffy sighs and rolls her eyes.
She raises her hands to the air and shrugs, “Gotta go.” She tells her friends as she turns from them and makes her way to Principal Snyder’s office. Buffy opened the office doors labelled “Headmaster” and looked down at the short, bald man sitting behind his desk.
“Please take a seat, Buffy.”
“As you wish.” She mumbled and plopped herself into the seat across from his.
Snyder started shuffling through some papers before he sighed. “You’re failing.” He stated.
“No, I’m struggling.” Buffy admitted, “Not failing.”
“No Buffy.” He cleared his throat. “You have an F and two D’s. You are failing. Three classes to be exact.” He faked sincerity but she could tell how hard he was trying to not smile, he wanted her gone. “I have no choice but to call a parent.”
Buffy nodded calmly but was internally suppressing a scream. How am I supposed to pass all my classes and kill every source of evil in Sunnyvale at the same time? She thought.
“Can I go now?” She asked. He put his hand out toward the door and she got up from her seat and moved toward the library. She opened the doors of the library to see Willow, Zander, and Giles waiting for her.
“Where were you, Buffy?” Giles asked.
“Didn’t they tell you? Snyder’s office.” Buffy answered.
“Ah, yes. Well, what did he say?”
“I’m failing… three classes. He has to call my mother.”
“Buffy! Why didn’t you ask me for help?” Willow asked.
“There’s not enough time in a day for school and homework and slaying.” Buffy looked at her friends, “I’m not a normal high school student guys. I have a vampire ex-boyfriend, remember?Homework can’t matter, if I make time for it, that’s just more time Angel and Spike have that I’m not thinking of how to destroy them?”
“I’m going to help you do both.” Giles said. “That’s my responsibility as your watcher.”
Buffy nodded and the bell rang, it was time for chemistry. Giles grabbed a manilla folder from the table in from of them and wrote “GILES” on the front in sharpie. “Put all your homework from the classes you’re having trouble with in here. We will go over how to do it after training. Be here at 6 for training.”
“Thank you.” Buffy put the folder in her bag.

The school day went by faster than Buffy expected, that could be due to the fact that Buffy was only thinking about how to deal with Angel and Spike. Buffy decided to go home before training instead of hangout with her friends. She approached her house and her feet slowed down. Her moms car was in the driveway. She usually dissent get home until 4:30, it’s only 3. This is because of Snyder… I’m screwed. She proceeded to move toward her door and entered her home.
“Buffy?” Joyce called.
“Yes.” Buffy answered.
“Come here please.” She moved toward the kitchen and saw something she didn’t expect to see, Angel.
“What are you doing here?! Get out! Now.” Buffy exclaimed. Joyce’s face showed confusion and she looked from Buffy to Angel. Angel walked past Buffy and out the door. Buffy followed him outside. “What are you doing, Angel? You can’t be here. This fight is between us, not my mother.”
“Catch you later, Buff.” He smirks and turns to walk away.
“If you come near my mother again, I won’t think twice before killing you. That’s a promise.” Angel didn’t respond to her, he just left.
Buffy went back inside and pressed her back against the door in relief that her mother was safe.
“We have a lot to talk about.” Joyce said.
“Look, I know the school called you, and I’m sorry. I’ll do better. You know Giles? The librarian, he and Willow are going to help me.”
“Well that’s a start, but until those grades change, you’re grounded. You can see them for help only.” Buffy looked at her mom and didn’t argue. “Please Buffy, I need you to make Sunnydale work, we cannot move again.”
“I’m didn’t do anything horrible at the last school, I can make this work!”
“You burned down a gym Buffy!”
“There were v-“ Buffy stopped herself. “I know where you’re coming from and I’m sorry. But you don’t understand. This isn’t easy, I have other responsibilities that need to be taken care of.”
“Buffy, you don’t even have a job. What responsibilities are you talking about?”
I wish I could just Scream “Most slayers don’t make it past 25!” Buffy thought, but she couldn’t.
“I’ll do better.” She told her mom. Buffy left the kitchen and went to her room. She opened a textbook and tried to understand the context. When she pulled a folder out of her bag a flier for the school’s spring fling fell out of it.
“As if.” Buffy huffed. Like I’d ever be able to go to a school dance. There’d probably be an invasion of witches or vampires that I’d have to kill mid-dance and then I’d be the Carrie White or the freakshow of the school. I probably already am. Buffy wondered why her life couldn’t have been “normal.” Prom queen, or meeting a high school sweetheart, college applications, it wasn’t going to happen. It’s not her fault she was the chosen one, it just happened that way. Buffy took a shower before going to meet Giles at the library. She closed her eyes and let the water run over her head when a cool whisper invaded her space, “You’re alone.” Her eyes flashed open.
“Drusilla?” Buffy whispered. Nothing happened. Am I imagining things? Probably not. She decided to get out. She wrapped herself in a towel and walked downstairs. Her moms car was gone but she heard someone in the kitchen. She turned the corner and her mom was standing there cutting vegetables. “I thought you left.” She said.
“I did leave, everyone leaves you.” The Joyce-like figure said.
“What?”
She lifted the knife to her neck and looked Buffy in the eyes. “Stop!” Buffy said and ran to grab the knife but in a flash, the figure disappeared. It wasn’t Joyce and it wasn’t a vampire, something weird was happening. Buffy took a few deep breaths and went upstairs to get dresses, she needed to ask Giles what this was. Buffy started walking to the school while thinking about what this creature could be. A spirit, maybe? Clearly, it knows me, is it a personal attack? It knows I don’t want to be alone, but it comes when I’m alone. Was that what Drusilla was in my dream? Before she knew it she was at the school and she walked to the library.
“Giles?” She called.
“Over here.” He answered. She followed his voice and found him sitting at a table with Willow and Zander. Buffy told them about the spirit/creature.
“How are we gonna kill this thing?” Zander asked.
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out.” Buffy admitted. “It approaches me when I’m alone. It invaded my dream and my house. It’s like a ghost.” She told them.
“Maybe there’s a spell, if it’s not a physical entity.” Willow said.
“Yes, good point.” Giles told her and got out a large book. “Look in here while we train.” He said giving the book to Willow.
“Okay.” She agreed, opening the book. Giles and Buffy practices her kicking and approaching from behind during a kill when Willow called them over, “Guys, I found something!”
They stopped their training and went back over to the the table. “It’s a spirit that feeds off of people’s fear. It doesn’t only approach when people are alone but it’s probably just attacking you because you’re the slayer, you’re a bigger target.” She said. “You have to destroy it by capturing its spirit in an inanimate object.” She told Buffy. Buffy nodded and thought of what she would trap this spirit in. Buffy’s watch beeped, telling her it was 7 and it was time to head home.
“Thank you guys.” She told them before the left. She started down the hallway when she felt the air shift, it was here. She slowed her steps and turned to the spirit. This time it took the form of Angel, but she could feel that it wasn’t him. She stared at it waiting for it to speak.
“Well, if it isn’t the slayer, walking around alone. How dangerous.”
“Not surprising though, is it? Because I’m always alone.” She said.
“Right.” It answered.
“Well you can’t scare me this time, I know how alone I am, and it’s okay.” She said. She took off the claddagh ring Angel got her and held it out to the creature.
“Be gone!” She shouted.
The creature shrieked out in pain until in swirled out from human form into a cloud of dust, floating straight into the ring. Buffy decided if she was powerful enough to make that happen, then being normal is overrated.
Buffy pulls herself from the bed and gets ready for school. Her mother has already left for work by the time Buffy gets downstairs to grab her school bag. Buffy approaches the building labeled “Sunnydale High School” as Zander and Willow walk up by her side.
